Sewing Machine Repair/Technician - Fulltime

• Fulltime Position - Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm
• Repair and adjust sewing machines.
• Troubleshoot, test, calibrate and rebuild a variety of mechanical components, motors, equipment and apparatus.
• Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, reconditioning, overhaul and repair of sewing machines.

Duties

• Dismantles machines and replaces or repairs broken or worn parts, using hand tools.
• Inspects machines, shafts and belts to identify worn or broken parts.
• Install attachments on machines.
• Ability to turn screws and nuts to adjust machine parts.
• Regulate length of stroke of needle and horizontal movement of feeding mechanism under needle.
• Initiate orders for new machines or parts.
• May operate machine tools to make new parts.
• Use service manuals, handbooks, computer programs to diagnose and repair machines.
• Initiate orders and stocking of showroom supplies as needed.
• Sales of machines and supplies.
• Customer service in the showroom and on the telephone as needed.

Minor

• May clean machine, tooling and parts as necessary
• May perform hand finish work to parts as required
• Maintenance of area and showroom as needed.
• Perform other duties as required

Skills required

• Knowledge of small motor machines
• Ability to follow directions, work independently
• Understanding of customer service.
• Basic safety precautions involved in operating and moving mechanical machines, oils and solvents.
• Ability to lift and load 75 pounds
• Basic Computer and communication skills
