A serger is a specialized sewing machine. ... A serger makes a more professional and durable seam than a standard sewing machine, especially for fabrics that have stretch. The threads lock around the seam to prevent fraying, and the machine also cuts off the seam allowance as it sews.
Why do we need a serger? The stitching is more secure and has give when stressed. This class will explore using the serger for Quilting, Home Dec and Fashion sewing. Go home with samples of each technique.
Class cost $20.00 You must be comfortable with threading and the basic functions of your serger. If unsure, take our know your serger class which we offer every month.
The first class will focus on using the serger for quilting.
•    Reversible Quilting (cutting fabric strips)
•    Reversible Quilting (piecing strips, quilt as you go)
•    Quilt Binding
•    Construct Seams
The second class will focus on using the serger for Home Dec and Fashion.
•    Pillow Back Attaching Zipper
•    Pillow Gathered Ruffle Strip (gathering foot)
•    Pillow Top Decorative Tuck (blindhem foot)
•    Pillow Ruffle Strip (rolled hem)
•    Construct Seams
